about lee
Hi, I’m Lee Wolfe, an Australian artist who works primarily with acrylic wash - and sometimes oil pastel - on raw cotton canvas.
After many years of casually pursuing my love of art, I committed to full time painting in 2024 to help navigate a deeply challenging time. Through painting, I found not only a sense of inner-peace and purpose, but I was actively transforming pain and despair into beauty.
From this time was born Inside This Soft World (ITSW), a peaceful collection of acrylic abstract landscape paintings on raw canvas. The first of an ever open and evolving collection, ITSW is rooted in the natural world with expansive skies, softened horizons and subtle light.
While I value creating my peaceful and gentle landscape paintings, I also prioritise indulging my inner child with pops of messy colour, by feeling my way through an oil pastel practise. These pieces are an abstraction of my own necessary journey back to innocence, playfulness and trust. Finding my own art process and trusting the creative process has been incredibly humbling and healing for me.
When it comes down the simple ‘why’ I make art to share… I suppose act of making the art is for myself, but the final artwork is for others.
I hope that (any art, by any person) helps people
pause and feel.
to notice the beauty around them and inside of them,
to find peace in presence,
and to feel seen and comforted.
Art nourishes us mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
May my art serve you in the way that you need most.
Lee
