Inside This Soft World is a collection of original acrylic wash landscapes on raw cotton canvas—soft, quiet scenes first created in a time when I needed gentleness and hope the most. Each work became a way to breathe deeply again, creating a safe space to regulate my sensitive body and move through complex trauma without words.

Though these paintings are born from tension, they do not hold tension. They express the existential enormity of being human while also being held by the vast - yet steady - world that surrounds us.

Each painting reflects the peace, belonging, and trust we long for, and act as an offering of calm and comfort in the face of the unknown.

This collection will continue to trace the experience of living as a sensitive being - an honouring of both the fragility and the resilience that lives within.

the process

 Using raw canvas and an acrylic wash, I build the paintings through gentle layers and long pauses, allowing the material to soak, settle, and guide the next step.With a restrained palette, each mark becomes intentional, every decision a response rather than a plan. I rarely know the final image when I begin, only knowing that a landscape of some kind will emerge. Allowing the painting to lead me is part of the practice and an act of trust that mirrors the emotional journey behind the work. 

Each painting reveals the texture of the canvas, the pigment soaking into it, creating a soft, stained fabric look.
